Description

Under this effort, Nokomis will develop a radio technology that substantially enhances the ability of operations under canopy to establish and maintain communications. The approach will combine Nokomis existing receiver sensitivity technologies with a novel integrated front end module that specifically mitigates the conditions associated with communication under the canopy. Software and hardware components will be assembled and integrated into a demonstration prototype of the technology, and the prototype will be demonstrated to the government. This proposed system, the Self-Optimizing Radio Transceiver Integrated Enhancement (SORTIE), will be a light-weight, rugged, and modular capability that is compatible with existing communications systems (including AN/PRC-150, AN/PRC-155, GPS, JTRS, and cellular operation), allowing them to maintain open lines of communication even under heavily occluded under-canopy environments.
