Description
A surgical insert for an 18-gauge needle has been developed incorporating two working channels, one for forward-looking 3D imaging, and a second working channel for a therapeutic embodiment (cutting, coagulation, precision injection of drugs, etc). We propose here an approach to scale down the insert to allow it to be incorporated in smaller gauge (20, 22) needles with significant size, weight and power requirement reductions suitable for precision ophthalmic surgery, but with no loss of imaging speed, resolution or range.
