OMNI FED LLC — Department of Defense SBIR Phase II: AF20R-DCSO1

Description

The main goal of this project is to democratize access to data for all DoD, USAF, PEO-BES, and CDO stakeholders and make that data accessible via the BESPIN platform. This effort takes the first step towards that democratization by integrating a reusable and repeatable open standard data API for exposing data that is currently locked behind monolithic applications. The mission impact of this project on the Air Force and the Department of Defense will position BESPIN to leverage the underlying data to develop advanced capabilities in AI/ML, Predictive Analytics, data-driven applications and services, dashboards, scorecards, and Business Intelligence reporting. Additionally, as end users, developers, and stakeholders are separated and displaced due to events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, these enhancements and unlocking of data from the 400+ PEO BES Programs will ease geographical separation and create a more extensible and efficient way to continue building out mobile capability. This year-long effort will map out the major data domains that belong to the PEO BES organization and replicate data for that domain to a central (e.g. data lake) or distributed (e.g. microservices) source of data for that domain which will enable access through an open API. This API will be dynamically integrated into the BESPIN Kratos Service Mesh and will form the basis for the Omni DaaS platform. The work plan is comprised of six phases: Discovery, Analysis, Alpha, Beta, Production, and Validation.
