Description
Triton Systems proposes to leverage its extensive experience in developing lightweight, electrically conductive materials to develop weight-optimized solutions to mitigate direct effect of lightning strikes on missile bodies. Our design will accommodate for the expansion of composite rocket motor pressure vessels and various missile skin structures of large missiles. We will work closely with our partners to integrate our lightning protection solution with the thermal protection layer and to ensure reliable installation on the missile skin. The proposed Phase I effort will end with down-selection of the most promising materials and designs that will be further developed, optimized and validated in Phase II. Finally, the technology will be transitioned to interceptor applications in Phase III and then generalized for broader use across military programs and commercial applications. Approved for Public Release 14-MDA-8047 (14 Nov 14)
