Description
Improved survivability of severe trauma on the battlefield has corresponded to a rise in trauma-related infection. More than 1 in 3 service members wounded in action experienced an infection during OIF and OEF; more than half of these are skin, soft tissue, or bone infections. Significant morbidity is associated with these infections. Prevention and management of these highly morbid infections have become a top priority of the Military Health System (MHS). Pascal’s revolutionary ClickGel is hydrogel that can be embedded with antibiotics for topical treatment of battlefield wounds and burns. The ClickGel technology is delivered to the injury site as a liquid to coat the exposed tissue that then gels at body temperature in under 90 seconds, slowly releasing antimicrobial agents, then completely disintegrates over time– leaving no trace. Pascal will be the Air Force and DoD supplier of products to protect the modern warfighter from morbidity following battlefield wound or burn injuries by providing care in the golden hour and beyond. Using the patented hydrogel technology, Pascal expects to achieve FDA De Novo clearance for antibiotic delivery by 2027.
