Description

Many currently fielded medical devices are adapted from civilian emergency medical operations and are not designed to function in the austere operating environments of the armed forces. Patient litter systems are incapable of meeting acceleration and crash requirements set forth in the Joint Enroute Care Equipment Test Standard (JECETS). In addition to these mechanical performance requirements that must be met, litter system evolution for the USMC also address a multitude of polytrauma patient and caregiver treatment requirements coupled with designs that ensure operational compatibility. A robust design capable of meeting harsh, dynamic operational requirements must also include a clear technology transition roadmap that includes regulatory compliance, device certification, and scale-up production activities to ensure timely acquisition for the Marine Corps. CRGs demonstrated expertise in patient transport litter development includes proven litter concept-to-prototype processes, a comprehensive suite of relevant operational evaluation capabilities, and a balanced team of subject matter experts and commercial partners. The unique skillset of the team and network presents the USMC with the opportunity to obtain a viable, near-term solution in the form of the Tactical Rescue, Aeromedical Compliant, Evacuation and Recovery (TRACER) Litter System.
