Description
PsiKick will develop a multi-node long lifetime, wear-and-forget monitoring, self-powered ambulatory physiological status monitoring (PSM) system capable of acquisition, processing, and transmitting electrocardiogram (ECG) signals and other biosignals such as temperature and acceleration (via COTS sensors). This system leverages our state of the art ultra low power (ULP) system on chip (SoC) technology to achieve an average power consumption of <50W. The proposed SoC will include a low power analog interface to external sensors, fully integrated power management, analog-to-digital conversion (ADC), on-chip digital processing, local memory, hardware acceleration for data processing, radios, and I/O interfaces to external sensors. PsiKicks SoCs offer power consumption that is 100x to 1000x less than commercially available options with similar functionality. Our approach focuses on creating a fully integrated, batteryless ULP SoC design and its major sub-systems (sensing, power, and processing). We will then design the underlying hardware, controlling software, and network protocols that govern wireless communication in the multi-node PSM system. Last, we will design a complete networked system of multiple nodes to facilitate a comprehensive system.
