Description
In this Phase II SBIR program, Illinois Applied Research Associates will design, manufacture, and test a 1.06 um optimized Linear Mode (LM) avalanche photodiode (APD) array. The array will be electrically and optically characterized and will be tested for environmental and application constraints for integration into terrestrial and space based applications. The ability to operate in linear mode is a significant advancement over Geiger mode APDs due to the reduced complexity and bias circuitry required to support those devices. Additionally, greatly reduced pixel pitch aids in enhancements to the image resolution. This proposed innovation improves on the development of compact, multi-spectral imagers. Approved for Public Release 14-MDA-7739 (18 March 14).
