Description
A robust, reliable power subsystem for the MK 18 MOD 2 UUV that can provide the full range of power requirements for the UUV and its subsystems, while presenting a lower potential energy state when the UUV is in setup and static modes, is necessary. The proposed current effort will expand and leverage the results achieved through the prior Phase STTR project by utilizing Lynntechs experience in designing and integrating compact, hybrid fuel cell power solutions onto unmanned platforms. Specifically, this effort will focus on packaging the various sub-systems of the hybrid fuel cell power system in a form factor to fit within the MK 18 MOD 2 UUV, provide sufficient useable peak power to support the advance sensor packages, and provide sufficient energy to sustain at least a single mission. Integration and operation of the subsystem in the UUV will also be accomplished in a manner that does not adversely affect the buoyancy, trim, maneuverability, drag, or any other hydrodynamic features of the vehicle.
