Description
The objective of this Phase II.5 proposed research is to develop a cutting-edge radio frequency (RF) MUOS high power amplifier (HPA) for the HMS Manpack which will operate from 5W to 25W over frequency range of 225MHz to 1.75GHz. The focus of this effort will be development of a Manpack-specific high efficiency PA capable of supporting both MUOS waveform and Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) in a single enclosure or a full duplex multi-band power amplifier which will interface directly with the Manpack AN/PRC-155. We propose to extend Quantum Dimension"s MUOS small form factor (SFF) HPA device design which is over 50% efficient at 8W peak power to meet the requirements for the AN/PRC-155 radio. The multiband aspect will require a"smart"device which will function based upon the frequency requirement. From 280-320MHz it will employ the MUOS-specific PA, outside of the MUOS other frequency bands 225MHz to 1.75GHz it will select the multi-band PA.
