Description
Subsequent Phase II Proposal, extension of Phase II Contract FA8650-13-C-5185. Accurate measurement of fastener flushness during assembly is critical to ensure that military aircraft meet operational specifications. Current measurement methods rely on manual gauges that do not provide sufficient accuracy or repeatability, are time consuming, and prone to operator-induced errors. Creare proposes to develop a handheld Fastener Measurement Tool capable of measuring fastener flushness in fastener heads prior to application of fill material. Our system is designed to be highly accurate, easy to use, and fast enough to provide immediate feedback to the operator. During this project, we will develop a compact, fully automated measurement system for evaluation on the manufacturing floor.
