Description

Diesel engines are more efficient than gasoline powered engines, but their use results in high Emissions of particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and carbon monoxide. New low temperature catalyst materials are needed for exhaust after-treatment to meet the demands of the future high efficiency engines. TDA Research, Inc. proposes to develop a new exhaust after treatment system that will reduce nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and carbon monoxide from diesel engines. In the Phase I we will carry out experiments to demonstrate our concept at the bench-scale. We will also carry out detailed engineering analysis to evaluate the techno-economic viability of the new exhaust after-treatment system. Commercial Applications and Other Benefits There is an immediate commercial market for cost effective exhaust after treatment systems that can help meet the increasingly more stringent emissions requirements and allow the expanded use of fuel efficient diesel engines.
