Description

In responding to the Army SBIR solicitation A10-045, Aria Microwave Systems, Inc. (AMS) has proposed to develop a high power, lightweight, compact, scalable SSD based DEW system with 60%-90% RF to DC efficiency. The proposed scheme utilizes the AMS proprietary active cavity amplifier (ACA) technology in conjunction with a phased antenna array. Each of the array elements is to be driven by one independently controllable amplifier, to achieve high level of agility, lethality and portability. Task for AMS in Phase II is to develop an efficient high power amplifier suitable to be used in an array as described. The effort in Phase I has indicated that it will be feasible to achieve in a mid UHF band amplifier design with dimensions at ~ 12-14 diameter by ~12 long, and is capable of 10 kW peak power with 30-50 ms pulse widths. Higher power and longer pulse widths are possible subject to power supply limitations and other peripheral issues.
