Description
This proposal presents an innovative, low cost approach to protecting a block-size area from a biological threat using a mobile wide area protection system that can be deployed within 12 to 48 hours. In Phase 1 the Company will determine the feasibility of developing a wide area protection system consisting of a sensor and wireless network to detect and communicate the presence of a biological threat and BioBlowers to neutralize the threat. A mobile BioBlower attached to the make-up air intake of a buildings HVAC system provides sterile air under positive pressure creating a safe room environment in the building. An option for providing an initial safe room environment followed by expanded protection for operation up to six months will be considered. The results of Phase 1 will provide the basis for the fabrication and testing of a wide area protection system in Phase 2. The proposed Phase 1 Option will advance the procurement of a centrifugal compressor for use in the Phase 2 prototype.
