Description
The US Air Force has the significant mission of providing time sensitive, mission critical medical support for Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) and technical rescue events on the battlefield and beyond. Current methods for USAR training are both logistically complex and cost-prohibitive due to the need to procure and set up mock environments of dangerous structural collapse for the training to be reflective of real-life technical rescue operations. The innovative Virtual Reality Medical Simulation System facilitates fully immersive, multiplayer virtual simulation training for USAR protocols. This system provides the warfighter with effective training opportunities that simulate the psychosocial and environmental realism of USAR incidents, as well as the development of a comprehensive training curriculum covering USAR and technical rescue response during structural collapse.
