Description
The Phase I effort will establish the validity, merit and feasibility of the proposed project to address bonded joint configurations under general mechanical and thermal loading while including the presence of process dependent critical material properties such as fracture toughness for the adhesive and adherent-adhesive interface. The proposed methodology will provide the information necessary to support the design, analysis, and verification testing of composite bonded joints with both existing unrepaired damage and a parametric range of repair configurations. This effort will serve as the foundation for the Phase II development effort. As described in the technical plan, the technology will be demonstrated on applications of particular interest to the NAVY. The prototype analysis tool will be provided to the NAVY for their own use.
