Description
Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) of USAF assets can be costly in terms of both the time and resource to perform the MRO and the cost of taking an asset out of service. As such, there is a need to reduce the amount of time and effort spend on MRO. Current MRO approaches are either schedule based (model) or condition based (Data). Neither approach on its own is sufficient for complex systems. As such, Spectral Energies (SE) and its partners have developed a hybrid formulation that relies on both model- and data-based approaches. SE’s approach allows one to account for aging, system defects, and manufacturing issues. This approach has been applied for a heat exchanger as well as a power plant facility. Ultimately, this approach when applied to USAF MRO operations will reduce the down time of key equipment and reduce the cost of MRO while maintain safe operating equipment.
