Description
In this SBIR program, TeraDiode, Inc. will develop a record brightness fiber-coupled diode laser system for pumping high power fiber lasers. TeraDiode has an exclusive license on intellectual property developed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory on a means of combining many diode lasers while scaling the brightness, to obtain an exceptionally bright fiber-coupled diode laser system. TeraDiode will demonstrate 5 kW or greater power level fiber-coupled to a 200 um/0.11 NA fiber. This laser will be wavelength stabilized to 976 nm and have a spectral bandwidth of 2 nm. The weight of the system will be engineered to be less than 1 kg/kW, which is of critical importance for DoD system applications. In Phase I, we will perform a baseline design for the laser system. In Phase II, we will construct the laser based on the Phase I design.
