Description

Tac-Alert is commercializing a patented dual-purpose wearable radiation detection and guidance system for tactical operators that provides hands-free, covert directionality of threats and targets in real time. Based on customer needs, new features for remote checkpoint screening are now being included.  This proposed project delivers military and broader benefits by (1) leveraging emerging dual-purpose technology for preventive radiological and nuclear detection to expand and harden onsite military capabilities at main gate and critical infrastructure entrances and (2) discovering specific customer needs for military base security.  Development of solution features addressing those needs is reserved for later phases.  To accelerate this process, advanced dual-purpose technology will be demonstrated during this project and compared to actual alternatives currently in service for military checkpoint security.  Commercial applications are clear because (1) early product development was directly tailored to user needs expressed by law enforcement tasked with domestic homeland security and (2) developed products are sold within a well-established and growing commercial market.  Additionally, this work addresses three mission areas from the Department of Homeland Security for scientific advancements and technological innovation.  Tac-Alert is pleased to partner with the Texas Military Department to contribute these important developments and enhancements to America's national security.
