Description
JM Harwood, LLC, proposes the development of a 370W (0.5 hp) small heavy fuel engine. The 6 cubic centimeter (cc) compression ignition, direct fuel injected, 2-stroke will leverage on-going work on a very small heavy fuel (VSHF) combustion test bed funded by the Army Research Laboratory (ARL). The proposed effort will also leverage on-going development efforts on the Very Small Injection Technology (V-SInTech) Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) system. The base engine will weigh less than 1 pounds (lbs) and fit within a 3.5-inch x 2 inch x 2 inch envelop. It will operate on both JP-8 and DF-2.
