Description

Triton Systems proposes a novel non-corroding and abrasion resistant solution to extend the service life of aircraft carrier’s five crossbar fitting type VIII tie. Prior to installation, the type VIII fitting undergoes a novel coating process that results in improved coating adhesion, allows weldability, reduces cost, and retains strength. The novel material selection and process will improve the reliability and extend the service life to the Navy’s targeted 50-year objective. For the Phase I effort, Triton will design, fabricate, and test the concept to demonstrate our solution’s ability to meet the Navy’s corrosion and strength requirements. The performance, process, and application of the solution onto the five point tie down and deck weldability will be the primary technical focus of the Phase I effort. Through working with our partners, Triton will ensure the technology is easily adopted, integrated, and utilized by the ship builders and the flight deck maintainers.
