Description
The goal of this effort is to develop a low cost, passive ear protection device to be worn as an earplug or headset that will allow the Soldier to maintain situational awareness but filter out harmful noise threats. Newly developed acoustic meta-materials may be leveraged to address this problem. Meta-materials are composite systems whose bulk properties are derived from the geometric structure rather than the chemical constituents of the material. Oceanit plans to offer a unique approach to satisfy requirements to selectively filter the frequency and amplitude of damaging combat noise levels encountered by the Soldier in the battlefield.
