Description
Technology Assessment & Transfer, Inc. (TA & T) proposes a novel fabrication process for producing fibrous network scaffolds suitable for connective tissue engineering. The process leverages microfabrication technologies that have matured for large volume production of micro- and nano-scale devices in the semiconductor and micro-electrical mechanical systems (MEMS) industries but have seen limited application in biological systems. Particularly, soft lithographic techniques and automated deposition will be employed for a cost effective manufacturing process that is inherently scalable. The proposed technology will directly control the size and morphology of difficult to process natural biopolymers on the microscale to produce engineered scaffolds.
