Description

The overall goal of the project is to develop a framework for creating simulation-based differential games for evaluation and optimization of pursuit and evasion strategies. Successful development of the proposed framework will provide a tool for identifying optimized guidance, navigation and control strategies for hypersonic pursuit evasion differential games. The salient aspects of the proposed solution are: (1) consolidation of modeling and simulation tools into an automated loop for high-throughput evaluation; (2) application of game theory to define differential pursuit evasion and target defense games that can be considered to develop strategies; (3) utilization of surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms to efficiently identify novel optimal guidance strategies from competitive differential games; and (4) integration of the components within a modular software architecture to facilitate integration into the the DoD’s simulation workflow. In Phase I, all key software modules within the tool will be developed. Phase II efforts will focus on capability extension, including direct application to control states, consideration of systems with uncertainties, visualization and interaction, and extensive technology validation and insertion into missile defense system-level testbed and environment.
