Description

USMC is building a state-of-the-art wargaming facility and plans to include next-generation wargames that are currently under development. Marine Corps wargame planners have access to a number of virtual simulation environments that support wargaming, such as Virtual Battlespace 4 (VBS4), COMMAND, MACE, and OneSAF. However, current methods of incorporating civilian behaviors are inadequate for the Marine Corps’ needs. Charles River Analytics, in partnership with Dr. Ronak Patel, Director of the Urbanization and Resilience Program at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, is pleased to propose the development of Probabilistic Patterns of Life (PPOL). PPOL will provide an extensible probabilistic representation of civilian populations for wargaming Modeling and Simulation (M&S). PPOL will support the objectives of reading the human terrain, analyzing baseline information, and interpreting critical cues to inform decisions. PPOL is based on Charles River’s existing PROMPT technology, a TRL 7 solution for developing probabilistic SysML models, as well as our RAM technology, a TRL 6 solution for human behavior modeling.
