Description
Situational awareness and the availability and usability of information is paramount, with an ever-increasing supply of information this becomes a monumental challenge for pilots and aircrew lacking key information found in the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) ecosystem. With aircrew iOS based devices, incompatible with the Android based TAK systems, there is a massive gap in SA for decision-making and prosecution of U.S. objectives. The TAKFlight R&D effort seeks to fill this gap providing a one-device solution with cross-compatibility and interaction between these two key mission systems. We will identify and assess three design approaches allowing pilot and aircrew to have seamless access to key TAK (Android) and air mission applications (iOS): 1. Hybridized iPad, TAK as a native iOS application; 2. TAK Middleware Service, Android TAK services as native iOS; 3. iOS/TAK Symbiosis, operational integration with separation. We will provide key analyses and recommendations and demonstrate the feasibility of a recommended approach. Working with key stakeholders, we will develop a plan towards product development and sustainment thereby ensuring pragmatic fielding potential. Cohere fully understands the key mission need and impact of this capability, this effort not only investigates the technical challenges but also the ultimate goal of transition and fielding.
