Description
Increased situational awareness and information sharing/availability, both in the field and in remote departments and agencies, is one of the main DHS objectives in today’s operations. It applies to all levels of commands.Attempts have been made to use tracking devices for detecting and continuously updating the positional data of friendly assets on a map. Many commercial applications and systems fulfill their objective in presenting the location of assets of interest on a digital mapping environment using tracking devices. The majority of them fail to create the overall big picture when it comes to generating and sharing between agencies the wide variety of additional data needed for disaster support missions.Conventional tracking devices and services only process positional data without the ability to inject valuable evidence such as video, still images, audio and text notes collected at the disaster scene.Defender’s proposed system, comprised of hardware (tracking devices and gateways), software (for asset tracking, media generation, pairing and dissemination) and mobile apps, is a turnkey solution that addresses the fundamental requirements of the DHS.It also extends well beyond these, adding valuable state-of-the-art features that have been field deployed for several years in a real-world environment.
