Description
The Transportable Blood Storage (TBS) system is designed to transport fresh whole blood and vaccines farther and more reliably than currently available. A prototype will demonstrate the feasibility of a stackable, portable, active refrigeration unit capable of holding up to 40 units of blood without the need for any additional appliances or ice packs. Concept evaluations will be completed with 720th Special Operations Surgical Team (SOST) members and other blood logistics industry members. Phase II will complete development and result in multiple First-Off Production units that will be ready for evaluation by users in a real environment.
