Description

FoVI3D is developing a 3-person, graphical workstation called PRISM to promote collaborative 3D visualization. The PRISM workstation consists of wide field-of-view monitors for rendering 3D content as well as high-resolution, 2D touch panels for the customized presentation of operator controls and data. The PRISM graphics API is based on ObjGL, a high-level, cross-platform, and display-agnostic graphics API implemented in efficient C/C++ that facilitates rendering for remote or multi-view display systems. Based on the publisher/subscriber architecture, the ObjGL client display subscribes to the application publisher service broadcasting all available 3D scene and ancillary data. ObjGL can record and provide playback of the geometric and data stream on the display client. During the Phase I investigative research, FoVI3D will research and prototype a mission/battlespace capture and replay tool based on ObjGL’s ability to record 3D content. ObjGL will be extended to support custom missile defense critical event messages that can be captured and played back synchronously within the 3D scene. In addition, each operator at a PRISM workstation will have the ability to capture, record, and playback a streamed mission and/or battlespace data independently or collaboratively. The resulting playback tool will allow an operator to visually rewind a mission/battlespace action for greater clarity. Approved for Public Release | 21-MDA-11013 (19 Nov 21)
