Description

State of the art industrial VTOL SUAS platforms feature standardized, open payload interfaces that allow the aircraft to be field customized to fit application or job requirements. Military users have similar requirements, but no existing VTOL platforms provide the modularity required, and the ones that come close are restricted from use due to their country of origin. What is needed is a “snap together” SUAS system that allows warfighters to assemble a custom solution from off the shelf components to suit mission requirements on demand. A custom mission package can be assembled in minutes, maximizing the technology utility. This capability is based on the GreenSight Mustang, a militarized variant of GreenSight’s existing commercial UAS, leveraging the BluePort open standards payload interface developed by GreenSight and AFSOC. Mustang's high payload capacity of up to 2kg enables it to carry multiple payloads like dual cameras or lighting or single heavier payloads like psyops or kinetics. It offers a level of flexibility which is currently completely missing from other man portable DoD tactical VTOL SUAS like the Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) aircraft which has been under development by the Army for over five years or the Soldier Borne System (SBS) nano SUAS. Mustang fills an urgent need for DoD and other Federal agencies requiring a man portable VTOL aircraft capable of both long flights and heavier payload capacity. Leveraging GreenSight's commercial systems, the Mustang SUAS has a cost point similar to popular overseas industrial SUAS aircraft, but meeting all DoD sourcing requirements which forbid foreign content.
