Description
IFOS proposes to rapidly transition to government end users an innovative sensing capability enabled by chip-scale photonic ICs (PIC) to meet need for novel instrumentation concepts for existing and emerging propulsion systems. Monitoring the state of high-value propulsion assets requires enhanced data collection and analysis solutions to leverage advances in prognostics and condition-based maintenance (CBM). IFOS has secured strong support from government and large OEMs. There is a need for enhanced sensing approaches for emerging propulsion monitoring and control architectures to support reliability, serviceability, and maintainability (RAS). Similarly, primes are seeking novel instrumentation concepts to overcome the technology gap between conventional electronic sensors and the needs of emerging missions. With support from stakeholders, and leveraging IFOS’ established commercial successes, IFOS is positioned to rapidly transition the resulting products to the intended applications. Phase II is tailored for achieving TRL 6 through end-user involvement and field demonstrations at stakeholder sites.
