Department of Homeland Security (DHS) frontline personnel face enormous challenges to identify counterfeit State licenses in an operational setting. With printing technology continuing to advance and become more affordable, it is no surprise that United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Fraud Document Analysis Unit (FDAU) has seized an exponentially increasing number of high-quality counterfeit State licenses.IPS has developed its solution through collaborating with DHS to design and deliver an Embedded Credential Protector (ECP) that can increase the security value of State issued documents, serve as a Decentralized IDentity (DID) verifiable credential with verifiable presentation properties, and provides DHS frontline personnel a more effective means to detect anomalies in genuine identity documents.This covert solution works in both a connect to the internet verifier situation and an offline verifier situation. The key technology objective of our ECP is to provide additional covert security to federal and state issued credentials that is nearly impossible to fake and is simple to verify.This provides many commercialization opportunities to state and other issuers and federal and other verifiers.
