Description

To address the Air Force need for a more compact, reliable, and manufacturable air quality monitoring system, Intellisense Systems, Inc. (ISI) proposes to develop the Compact Atmospheric Data Recorder (CADRE) system based on tight integration of a cadre of gas sensors and atmospheric capture, concentration, and recording equipment in a compact, self-contained, and fully autonomous unit. Specifically, innovations in compact multi-sensor electronics, incorporating thermal desorption tubes, active gas flow management, and active power management will enable the device to perform real-time monitoring and recording in digital form as well as physical sample recovery for later laboratory analysis. As a result, CADRE offers a solution that directly meets Air Force requirements for a multi-factor gas monitoring system ideal for taking measurements prior to takeoff. In Phase I, ISI will demonstrate the feasibility of CADRE by building a device, testing it under laboratory conditions, and making it available to the Air Force for its own testing and evaluation. In Phase II, ISI will mature the device based on Air Force feedback so that initial flight tests can be performed for further validation and preparation for final manufacturing, tooling, and fielding.
