Description

Legacy systems represent challenges for the military services and DLA.  The fuel oil cooler (FOC) for the TF34 engine has been a problem part for years.  The DLA SBIR Phase I program applied proven reverse engineering methods to generate a technical data package (TDP) that can enable a qualified production source to make the part in support of the of the sustainment supply chain. The Phase II builds on the success of Phase I, expanding the effort to include FOCs for the J85 and TF33 engines.  In addition to reverse engineering and TDP generation, the Phase II effort delivers prototype hardware, ultimately leading to acceptance testing for the completed FOCs.  Phase I established a methodology for the source approval request (SAR) process for a capable source.  Phase II is taking that effort a step further by expanding the SAR activities to help establish a template for future FOC efforts.   The Phase II program is geared to establishment of a viable supply chain that is in place for these and similar essential legacy parts.
