Description
The military is interested in new CO2 scrubber materials for diving closed-circuit rebreathers. In particular, it is desired to replace the existing cartridges of soda lime with a new material enabling it to be regenerated for subsequent diving operations without having to repack the unit. Toward this need, Skyhaven proposes to incorporate a new class of adsorbent materials along with a thermally regenerative system to fit within existing MK25 mod 2 adsorbent canisters. Beyond improving military rebreathers with this new CO2 scrubber, the technology may also be used for commercial and recreational diving rebreathers offering improved performance, longer CO2 adsorption capacity, and the ability to regenerate the adsorber unit without having to repack the unit.
