Description
Spatial Data Visualization Service (SDVS) is a coordinated development effort between PEO SUB S and PEO IWS5A to provide a unified geographic information system (GIS) solution to all Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical System (SWFTS) subsystems deployed via Common Infrastructure Services (CIS). SDVS preserves and provides all the capabilities of today’s multiple unique SWFTS GEOs, using the principles of open and modular design to provide for an appropriate tailored visualization solution to each SWFTS subsystem. SDVS also provides. enhanced visualization, high-resolution bathymetry and imagery databases, and other tools to provide improved navigational understanding, the capability to conduct detailed tactical analyses via tactical decision aids and improved human system interaction. SDVS design provides for partition of the system into microservices organized around the “owner/principle-user” of portions of the system. The “Core” layer of SDVS provides for common map data used by most/all of the SWFTS subsystems, while each “PARM layer” provides for particular information and formats uniquely required by one of the SWFTS subsystems (e.g. sonar layer, electronic warfare layer). Incremental development of the Core and PARM layers of SDVS solution is a critical element of the SWFTS effort, with critical development and integration in 2021, 2022 and 2023. SDVS is built upon innovative technology developed under the Augmented Reality Environment for Submarines (ARES) SBIR program.
