Description
AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 is more than a collection of hardware, it’s a system of sailors acting in specific roles, and making decisions to support the mission. ASW operations require a complex set of skills, interacting with the combat system and other operators. Proficiency with the system is not a single measurement, even experienced operators may have difficulty with rarely used capabilities during high operational tempo events. Mission success depends on operators making the best use of the technology. Tactical Advantage Support Kit (TASK) provides a powerful solution to assist operators using AI/ML tools. Our approach captures operator interaction with the Q89 graphical user interface (GUI), and uses this interaction to train ML models; these models span threads of interaction with the user interface used to accomplish specific functional tasks. We employ these models in the live tactical system to continuously evaluate the operator’s interaction, and provide a unique capability to assist in accomplishing these functional tasks. Our technical approach applies AI/ML to identify the task the operator is executing; determine if the operator needs help with that task; and provide individualized, context-aware operator assistance in real-time
