Description

The objective of our proposed STTR phase-I work is to transition the latest advancements within the academic community to the design of a robust, user-friendly, and application-oriented tool for automatic hex-dominant meshing. Our software will fully couple CAD models to the discretized domain required by finite element software in structural analysis and other simulation and modeling applications. We plan to build such a tool based on our in-house CAD manipulation and mesh generation tool called CAD2Mesh. At HyPerComp, we have been developing CAD clean-up and meshing tools for almost two decades for a variety of simulation and modeling applications. Our research institution partner for this STTR project is the Geometric Data Processing Group at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), headed by Professor Justin Solomon. Phase-II and beyond will support further development, technology validation, application, maturation, and dissemination of the hex dominant auto-mesh generator.
