Description

The objective of this effort is to demonstrate a 600 Vdc to 208 Vac three-phase bi-directional, isolated power inverter that utilizes wide bandgap semiconductors and is capable of operating across all military ground vehicles and, in a separate hardware configuration, operate in a stand-alone tactical microgrid environment.  The proposed inverter is based on an isolated topology, contains a combination of GaN and SiC devices, provides at least 30 kW bi-directional power flow, and satisfies the electrical requirements outlined in MIL-PRF-GCS600A, MIL-STD-704F, MIL-STD-1332B, and MIL-STD-461F.  If will support high-temperature liquid cooling such as found in a military vehicle environment as well as forced-air cooling in a separate hardware configuration.  Further, its controller will support fast fault and operational capabilities and standard communication protocols such as a J1939 CAN interface.
