Description

Understanding the end-to-end performance of distributed missile defense applications and mitigating any shortfalls in application performance can significantly increase mission assurance and better protect US and allied personnel. To achieve this objective, we propose to develop an Overhead Persistent Enterprise Architecture (OPEA) Real-time Transfer Service (RTS) Communications Analyzer (ORCA). This capability will be developed by implementing the RTS, OPEA, and Persistent GEOINT Mission Manager (PGMM) modules of the End-to-end Digital Integration System-level Simulation (EDISS) in a Live Virtual and Constructive (LVC) environment. The ORCA models will interoperate with the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA’s) digital model simulations of the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) sensors, Space-based Infrared System (SBIRS), National systems, Defense Support Program (DSP), Mission Control Station (MCS), and other ground stations. ORCA will enable more efficient and comprehensive network modeling, simulation, and emulation in an enhanced LVC environment. ORCA will be able to effectively and efficiently replicate the operation of missile defense networks under a variety of scale and tactical operating conditions that may be difficult and/or cost-prohibitive to realize using live assets. ORCA will support an interface to MDA digital model simulations and accept OPGA messaging. The resulting capability will enable accurate assessment of future satellite/sensor integration and their effects on existing networked system-of-systems performance prior to deployment and enable integration with other simulations such as the Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) or with live systems such as the MCS.
