Description
Built from a highly successful Phase I (Base) proof-of-concept technology demonstration, ADA Technologies Inc. (ADA) proposes to further develop, optimize and demonstrate our high energy density, long cycle life and safe Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) battery technology to address the US Army (Army) needs for higher energy density, wide operating temperature, and safe soldier portable energy storage devices. In Phase II, ADA Li-S battery technology will be further augmented with the development/optimization of nanoengineered electrode materials. ADA will formulate wide operation temperature and safe electrolytes tailored for Li-S chemistry to meet Army CERDEC power source requirement of extreme temperature and safe operation under both normal and abusive conditions. ADA will implement the advanced Li-S battery technology developed in this program into large format prototype cells/batteries. ADA will conduct a comprehensive electrochemical evaluation of the large format prototype batteries relevant to Army applications over a wide temperature range. Phase II will culminate with delivery of multiple prototype batteries to Army CERDEC for evaluation. We will work with our industrial partners to integrate ADA advanced Li-S battery technology into conformal wearable batteries as next generation Army soldier portable power sources.
