Description
To portray a highly accurate physics simulation of weather effects and the resultant impacts in a gaming environment several enabling factors are needed. A weather service to provide real time, present, historical, and future predictive weather information derived from authoritative data, a method to fabricate or modify weather data for training, testing, experimentation, and other modelling and simulation use cases; and an enabling open architecture that supports ingesting of raw data to visualization of effects in a simulation gaming environment. CESI recognizes the current challenges in weather representation and has embarked on a research and development project, which designed and partially prototyped a simulation weather service. That project is called Clime and was partially prototyped and presented at ITEC 2019. The Clime prototype and Air Force weather data will be analyzed to determine modifications to use USAF weather data sources and determine the necessary servcies and APIs to bulid a future proof-of-principle, end-to-end prototype demonstrating propogation of weather data, which will validating the enhanced architecture.
