Description
Weapons systems that are inherently cyber-physical in nature are increasingly susceptible to different kinds of attacks – both cyber and physical in nature. In testing these systems, limited consideration is given to the possibility of a sophisticated cyber-attack. Today, weapons systems are subject to a number of critical weaknesses, including (i) susceptibility to cyber-attacks—standard coding methods used lack software vulnerability scanning and correction at the engineering level, (ii) multiple connection points expose systems to attack during maintenance operations and software, hardware, and firmware updates, often required to address mission requirements, and (iii) physical security and tampering. KBSI proposes to assemble a tool chain out of existing capabilities to support the analysis of cyber-physical systems vulnerability, threat and risks, along with mitigation and protection mechanisms, and to manage and share such results in a controlled manner.
