Description
The Navy is seeking innovative methods and tools to enable knowledge curation and distribution of multi-media knowledge products, and to create intelligent mechanisms that link these knowledge products based upon natural language understanding and content-driven analytics. Towards this end, the Navy has invested in the development of a Knowledge Sharing Engine (KSE) that enables the creation, sharing, and application of knowledge along with ‘lessons learned’ through experience and best practices. The successful realization of the Navy KSE vision pre-supposes an effective knowledge curation process where knowledge content is carefully vetted for correctness and quality. With the deluge of knowledge that flows into the repository in various formats, the manual vetting of content is tedious, inefficient, and cost-prohibitive. In response to these challenges and opportunities, Knowledge Based Systems, Inc. (KBSI) proposes to research, design, and demonstrate the efficient Knowledge Sourcing, Valuation and Dissemination Toolkit (e-KnowVaT). Phase I will establish technology application requirements, design knowledge curation and semantic information analysis methods, design an automation architecture, and demonstrate a technology proof of concept. Phase II will harden the innovation by building a focused Navy application of the technology leading to rapid technology transition and commercialization.
