Description
Active Ride Control (ARC) has demonstrated itself effective at improving performance, ride quality and occupant safety aboard vessels operating at high-speed in elevated seas. Operating in these conditions exposes crew and craft to extreme shock forces. Consequently, combatant craft personnel and their passengers routinely sustain injuries that range in severity from recurring fatigue to permanent disability. Today, preserving the ability to operate reliably and effectively in challenging sea conditions, Naval Special Warfare Command (NAVSPECWARCOM) relies almost exclusively on the skill and experience of its Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC). These specialists employ navigation, maneuver, trim, and throttle manipulation to mitigate impact while negotiating adverse maritime conditions. Recognizing shock as a formidable concern, and understanding the overall performance enhancement associated with controlling craft attitude, NAVSEA seeks to identify a simple, reliable, lightweight, common platform ARC system for the fleet. Marine1 has the demonstrated technology capable of meeting NAVSEA’s objectives.
