Description
The objective of this effort is to develop and demonstrate a 600 Vdc to 208 Vac three-phase bi-directional power inverter that utilizes wide bandgap semiconductors and is capable of operating across all military ground vehicles and, in a separate hardware configuration, operate in a stand-alone tactical microgrid environment. The proposed inverter is based on an isolated topology, contains a combination of GaN and SiC devices, provides at least 30 kW bi-directional power flow, and satisfies the electrical requirements outlined in MIL-STD-1332B, MIL-PRF-GCS600A, and MIL-STD-461F. Further, its controller will support fast fault and operational capabilities and standard communication protocols such as a J1939 CAN interface.
