Description
Phoenix proposes a solution to extend the surface lateral standoff range of EOD ROVs from topside operators using a combination of wired and wireless systems, thus increasing personnel and equipment safety. The ROV tether length can impact the vehicle performance and control due to drag and sea conditions, currents and swell. This effort entails a study for the concept development of a fully integrated, self-deploying, vehicle agnostic subsystem with autonomous tether management capable of meeting the requirements at both short and long-range distances.
