Description
Phase II effort will develop and implement an embedded prototype of GPS Interference Mitigation Module (GIMM) as a tailored design of the overall Exploitation of Discrete GPS Interference for Enhanced Navigation (EDGE) technology toward a higher potential for transitioning to fielded systems. Phase II will build on Phase I algorithmic components and their feasibility demonstration results. Main objectives include: 1) Development of a complete software prototype of GIMM based on Phase I algorithmic components; 2) Performance demonstration with experimental data (using over-the-cable and software-based injection of jamming and spoofing signals) and RF signal simulators; 3) Implementation of a key technological enabler of GIMM (post-correlation detection and mitigation of spoofing) on a low-SWAP embedded platform suitable for Army applications; and, 4) Demonstration of embedded functionalities. GIMM will be developed as an add-on to legacy GPS receivers used in Army systems. The technology will offer interference detection and mitigation services to legacy systems that are lacking such capabilities. For software-defined radio-based implementation of modernized navigation systems, GIMM will provide a standalone PNT solution with interference discrimination. With CRPA, spatial information of both jammers and spoofers will be determined via array signal processing and without requiring any specific platform maneuvers.
