Description
The threat to GPS drives demand for a back-up PNT solution that can operate in the event of denial of service to the GPS satellite signals. The military is dependent on PNT for their warfighting operations and national critical infrastructure is also reliant on GPS for positioning and timing. The Air Force is investigating using hosted payloads on commercial satellites for applications such as PNT to provide a back-up to GPS. In this proposal we describe a PNT as a Service (PNTaaS) concept that leverages capabilities already in existing on certain commercial satellite constellations to allow their signals to be used for PNT. The proposed solution will support resilient PNT through the Air Force’s space enterprise having a large impact on readiness, operations, and innovation by leveraging commercial space advanced technology.
