Description

Our Fused Augmented RealtiesUser Interface (FAR-UI) already provides Synthetic Vision Augmentation of head-mounted displays (HMDs) for enhanced situational awareness (SA) visualizations for dismounted warfighters. Key innovations include wider field of view (especially useful used with narrow field of view high magnification tasks); intuitive low cognitive workload augmented reality graphics (eyes stay on target areas); and perfect viewing conditions 24/7/365 augmenting real-world viewing with Unity3D synthetic vision terrains.

Our OSD/Army and Air Force sponsored FAR-UI versions are focused upon intuitive situational awareness enhancements for small unit leaders decision making via information fusion from small tactical UAS/UGV and larger UAS respectively. Our current OSD/Army and Air Force efforts do NOT include fire and close air support use cases. Given our advanced science and technical foundations of similar dismounted use cases (and prior separate successful call for fire and close air support S&T efforts) we envision this Navy/USMC project as a high-payoff, low-risk effort. We will deliver functional prototypes for what-you-see-and-hear-is-what-you-get assessments and subject-matter-expert feedback within the Phase-I base. Further our university partner independently testing with our Navy sponsored Fused Realities Augmented Modules product will scientifically quantify the task/workload benefits and tradeoffs of the candidate innovations we tailor to USN/USMC requirements.
